JACKSON, MS — U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement is further proof that Mississippi needs a strong conservative voice in our nation’s capital, and Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is that person.
Melissa Scallan, communications director for the Cindy Hyde-Smith for U.S. Senate campaign, said Senate Republicans now have a prime opportunity to confirm a justice to the Supreme Court who will support and defend the conservative, Constitutional values of this nation and Mississippi.
“Cindy has hit the ground running in D.C., voting to confirm every single conservative judge nominated by President Trump. Mississippians can count on her to be there for President Trump’s next conservative nominee.
“This important moment is another reminder that control of the Senate means control of Supreme Court nominees, which is why national Democrats want Chris McDaniel to make a runoff against Mike Espy: They know they can beat him. It would be a travesty for Mississippi to become the next Alabama and give away a Republican Senate seat that could be the difference between holding the majority and losing it to Chuck Schumer.”
